Stark Solitude
This March day was rainy and cold and drear and these trees stood so leafless and stark against the backdrop of the sky and lake that they demanded the photographer's attention.
Winter Trickle
There is something about a mountain stream, merrily burbling and splashing over mossy rocks and logs and joyfully trickling through any available crack or crevice, that I just cannot resist. There is a catharsis to be found in the presence of this, one of God's most delightful creations.
Winter Moss 2
It was interesting to see how even on the dullest, dreariest, grayest winter day the moss on these rocks beside this mountain trickle made the entire surrounding area look bright.
A January Walk at Mill Lake - Sunday Evening
Late this afternoon (almost evening) the weather was crisp and clear. The sun was just setting. The crowds had thinned out. It was very peaceful.
Liquid gold at Mill Lake
Where the ice had cleared from the lake the ducks and wild fowl were still looking for that last morsel.
Mount Baker in the late afternoon sun.
The ducks in flight against the backdrop of the lake and mountain made for some interesting lighting and mood.
A January Walk at Mill Lake - Saturday afternoon
This Saturday the weather was so beautiful that we couldn't resist a "saunter" around Mill Lake. The sky was blue, the sun was warm and the air was balmy. What a contrast to all the gray days and rain we have had.
Around the Moon
While we were walking today I watched as this contrail was extending directly in line with the moon. Then at the last moment it swung which made it look like the pilot was using the moon as a turning marker in the sky.
Ice on Mill Lake
With the previous cold snap we had Mill Lake was frozen over. The ice is rotting now but still covers a good chunk of the lake. Wild fowl and seagulls are still able to walk on it and if you look closely you can see where people tried to walk on it when it was still frozen over.
Le Chat c'est chaud
The cat is thoroughly enjoying the warmth of the January sun streaming in through our windows.
